My Name's Tammy. I'm 27 years old and I have Cerebral Palsy, I use a power Wheelchair to get around. Currently single- Let's just say I've had a string of bad relationships. I am also a lesbian.

Currently looking to make new friends. Anywhere is fine, but I'm a Michigan girl.

A writer at heart, I'm also attempting to learn game design and programming.

Anything you want to know, just ask.
LGBT Family-Inclusive Immigration Bills Need Your Help
10:09am 02/06/2009
Wednesday, June 3, the Senate Judiciary Committee will convene the first-ever hearing on inequality for same-sex couples in federal immigration law. The Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) is long overdue legislation that will end current discriminatory immigration policy by allowing American citizens to sponsor their same-sex partners for residency in the United States.

Women are...

mood: artistic
you're imagining this11:05 PM 12/12/07 · I was inspired to do this list, for no particular reason, this past Tuesday around 4pm.

To those men, of ye olde school, that hold women are meant to be seen but not heard I say they should buy better earplugs.
  • Women are meant to be seen, heard, hugged, and nibbled muchly.

  • Women are mildly annoying in that they live longer than the men of the species.

  • Women are technically just lumpy men when you think about it.

  • Women are not as tall as men usually.

  • Women are always thinking they're fat when they're really thin.

  • Women are the last one's to be ready to go anywhere.

  • Women are one of my favorite food groups.

  • Women are smelly but rarely in a bad way.

  • Women are better than pillows and not just because you don't need to fluff them.

  • Women are probably the only reason men bathe.

  • Women are prone to make funny sounds when stimulated.

  • Women are high in fibre.

  • Women are almost better than chocolate.

  • Women are worth the effort.

  • Women are where men come from.

  • Women are biodegradable.

  • Women are the source of the male obsession with boobage!

  • Women are more fun when they're less sane.

  • Women are extraordinarily critical of themselves.

  • Women are only truly beautiful when they first wake up in the morning...everything else is a performance.

  • Women are equally as useless as men...they're just prettier.

  • Women are beautiful...even the ugly ones.

  • Women are squishy.
Lesbian Questionnaire
02:34pm 09/01/2007

My name is Megan Haines and I am doing research about lesbian's experiences with the feminist movement. There is very little research focusing on lesbians' general experiences, and almost none on their special relationship to the women's movement. I am trying to correct this. I have created an online survey that explores these relationships. This is the link for the survey if you are interested in taking it:

Survey Link

If anyone of this community would be willing to either take the survey or pass the survey on to their friends or other communities I would be grateful.

If this post is too of topic for this community please feel free to delete it!
If you have any questions please email me at mhain6hy@umw.edu or my advisor, Dr. Mindy Erchull at merchull@umw.edu.

Thanks for your time!

Now open for support, </a></b></a>queercancercare, a livejournal community for queer caregivers of folks with cancer.

You might be a queer caregiver of a person with cancer if...

You've had to explain to emergency room personnel that no, you're not sisters, but yes you are family.
You've been tempted to write a love song for Zofran.
You've overheard your parents tell their neighbors "oh she's just a little upset because her room-mate has cancer."
You're afraid that if one more person asks "what are you doing to take care of YOURSELF" you might commit an act of violence.
You've been ever been mistaken for "the one with cancer" because people think your extremely short haircut looks like you are post-chemo.
You've screamed "of course he's on a lot of narcotics. He has cancer!"

This community is for all queer caregivers of folks with cancer...whether that person is your spouse, partner, mistress, best friend, shortstop on your softball team, parent, child, however you define family. Also very open to straightfolks or allies who helping to provide care for queer family/friend with cancer.

The idea is to share strength, support, ideas, resources and a listening ear.

well it's wednesday and the weekend can't come soon enough. actually, my holidays can't come soon enough (sept 1-10). wish i was going somewhere exciting, but other than training for my big run next year, and a possible visit to my sis' in the mountains, i am staying close to home. home is edmonton, alberta, canada.

i found this community quite by accident and it seemed interesting. so here i am, blogging. a quick synopsis of me: runner (training for a marathon), renovating my house, part time university student, definitely over 30! but under 40!, love baking - especially with candles and wine, have two dogs, and am pining for the one i will not have! sound familiar to anyone? the 'pining for the one you will not have' part?

anyone know anything about houston? i'm going there for a business trip in january. good gay scene?

So much exciting news
11:15am 02/12/2005

We've had a lot of amazing things happen for us at Heroine Films this month. A lot of it do to support from this community and others. We've gathered support from a lot of different places but honestly, Livejournal has shown us the most amazing people.

So as for what's up: We have finally posted the interview that we did on the NC television show Second Cinema.  You can watch it in at www.heroinefilms.net/scinterview.html

There is an article coming out about us in this months upcoming issue of CURVE Magazine. I believe it comes out on the 15th if you'd like to check it out. Also, MTV's new LGBTQ channel LOGO has put together a package for us for advertising purposes (we'll be showing our trailer to the over 13 million homes LOGO already goes to) and they are interested in buying the finished film. As I said in the last update, we also got a large portion of our funding from the production company AMVF.

Thank you so much to all of those who have supported us. It is all your continued letters, emails, comments, and donations that has made this possible. There is no way we can express how much it means to us.

shoot to kill...

Just wanted to stop by and share an open letter to our supporters. Thanks to all in the community who've helped, encouraged, etc.

As some of you read in burnandshiver 's journal, the Heroines are trying to restructure...

Here's the lofty version of things:

When I first moved to New York, I was struck with the realization that I had come home. I moved there to help an SVA fourth year rewrite her thesis script, do a rewrite on my own (the Gladdest Thing, then called Heroine) and to work for the Visibilities the Lesbian Magazine.Read more...Collapse )

Side note - Wish me luck! A Prod Co./Management Company just requested a copy of a script I wrote several years ago about Women's Soccer. What a hoot!

With all the love in the world (just shoot me),

xox Mel
